Repairs to Stage 2 of Retaining Wall Underway

Contractors engaged by the Town Council are now proceeding with the extensive repairs to Stage 2 of the retaining wall overlooking the cliff railway. This section is the longest, but work is now proceeding well and should be completed before the onset of winter weather.

We will update everyone when we shall be able to re-open. Once we have been advised of when the building works will be completed, we will need to re-engage and train staff to operate the cliff railway. We will also need to undertake safety checks and recommission the cliff railway after it has remained static for so long.

In the meantime, the cliff railway’s engineer and manager have been overseeing the re-decoration of the two stations in readiness for re-opening. A new emerald green colour scheme has been applied inside the ticketing areas of the two stations. This colour scheme has been much welcomed by those who have seen it. Subject to the feedback of our passengers, we may well keep this internal colour scheme as a permanent feature.

Meanwhile, we look forward to welcoming you all back once circumstances permit.
